Currently I’m in the process of changing roles at work, which is a huge post on it’s own but I’ll save that for when things get shaken out. Part of the role change is taking on the design and web development for Lighthouse and hopefully passing the production of Lighthouse TV and the majority of video production to a friend’s very capable hands. All that to say that I won’t be using the Mac Pro as my daily computer, instead my main machine will be a 17″ uni-body Mac Book Pro. This is great for a lot of reasons, primary the portability though. My office has no windows so it’s a live cavenernous and design / web work can be done from anywhere with a decent internet connection. So tonight instead of working on one the many unfinished projects I have going, I sketched out some ideas.

I’ve been chewing on this for a few days and it’s starting to take shape in my mind. The design will probably change some more but it always does as things get refined. Some times designs will look great in CAD yet when you hold them in the shop the proportions feel a little off.

I love Google Sketch for a couple key reasons, one it’s free and two it’s fast. I’ve spent some time looking what other stands people are making and I only saw one that I really loved.

This stand by Dupludo is gorgeous. The flow and proportions are so tasteful. Though I love this stand, I want something that can break down quickly and travel well so I’m going with a 3 part stand though I am going to steal the radius of their lip that matches the underside of the uni-body. It will be a few weeks before I get this one into the wood shop since I have an pine amp box to build, a front porch to stain and a fire place to plumb in…It’s fun to dream though.
