The Prevailing City Studio was opened in October of 2008 to be the crucible for my creative journey. By day I am a content producer and by night I moonlight as a frustrated artist. My studio and home are nestled in the down town of Twin Falls Idaho, a callow city in need of an awakening. I am currently working primarily with wood, but I'm really enjoying experimenting with metal, wheat pastings, stop motion animation and a hundred other medias. I've built close to 200 pieces of furniture for designers from San Francisco to Philadelphia, now it's time to pull back and work on odd pieces and hopefully some legacy pieces. Enjoy the journey via pictures and video and please forgive my lack of interest in prose. Jake Schumacher
The things we can make in our basements with our spare time. It goes with out saying this guy is incredibly talented.

Just saw this nice little table at Target for $50. Solid wood, looks like a tropical hardwood. It appears to have mortise and tenon joinery, unfortunately secured with nails.

The posts have been few and far between lately. One of the reasons is that I am rocking an old flip phone that is incapable of posting from or doing anythings else of use. Also I haven’t really been doing that much creative work lately, I’m hoping to change that.
My Grandfather on my mother’s side was a mechanic for Southern Pacific for over 30 years. This meant that our family could ride anywhere Southern Pacific serviced and so I have very found memories of long train trips up the coast. As the Sun Valley Company looks to expand, one of it’s new goals is to draw more people from the Magic Valley. A high speed train to beautiful mountains would be the rebirth of our town though the probability of it happening is non existent. Another great place for a high speed train would be between Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

What I do, is a reflection of me. You see, every compromise in my work is linked to my character.
